Yoga, Movement and Breath for Birth
Basic tenets of yoga that serve us for labor and birth.
The breath in yoga is called the prana, pra -constant, na – movement. The breath creates constant movement in the body, an expansion and contraction, an ebb and a flow, opening and moving inward. The breath brings lifeforce to the body, when the breath is restricted, there is tension, tightness, lack of movement, lack of energy flow. In all forces of nature there is constant movement.
Exercise – observe the movement of the breath
Hands on lap, open and close palms and notice if you feel a connection between the breath and the movement of the hands.
Slowly open hands outwards and then turn them inward.
While opening the hands outwards, lift the arms, and when turning the hands inwards, bring the arms back to the body, and continue until the arms lift up to shoulder height, and then back down. Observing the connection between the movement of the arms and the breath.
